Current awareness services

We offer a range of current awareness services to our members.

Each week around 50 of the new items added to our collection are selected for inclusion in the weekly Bulletin. This is then sent by email to all individuals and teams in our member organisations. The Bulletin items cover all aspects of the Service's subject coverage plus news of publications from government departments and other key agencies.

In addition, 30 specific Topic Updates are sent out to subscribers fortnightly. Members can select the topics they wish to receive, and the listings are sent as file attachments by email. This means members receive all the abstracts added to the library database in the preceding two weeks which have key words relevant to their interests.

We have also recently launched a new email Alerts service for members. This new service allows members to refine the information they receive from us even further, which is useful when content on a particular subject, policy, project or organisation is required. Members save their search terms online and then receive emails with lists of records that match the criteria whenever they want them. Alerts can be issued either weekly, fortnightly, monthly or on demand.

Our current awareness services provide links to our online database, and from there members can download electronic full text where we have copyright agreements in place. Also included are live hypertext links to any documents that are published on the web, making it quick and easy to retrieve and read them. Our library holds full text copies of all the documents mentioned and these can be borrowed or requested from the IDOX Information Service in the usual way.
