Undertaking searches for members

Telephone

Whenever you have work in hand which needs background understanding, knowledge or examples of similar work done, a phone call is all that is necessary in order to discuss your information requirements with one of our ten Information Officers. Sometimes you may just need to identify or get hold of a specific document. We will undertake a search of our database to retrieve the most useful and appropriate items. Within 24 hours (one working day) we will email or fax through the list of abstracts of the selection we have identified for you to choose from. After reading the abstracts you can then order the items from us by fax or e-mail.

Please note this aspect of the Service is only available to Full Member organisations.

On the web

Staff of member departments or organisations can register in order to search our database, PLANEX. Users can self-register, choosing their own usernames and passwords.

The complete database of abstracts is available to be searched at any time. The site also contains examples of search strategies and details on how to use key words and phrases to best effect. The full text of any relevant items identified can either be downloaded or requested via a 'library basket' facility.

Members can also use their passwords to access each week's Bulletin as it is posted onto our site every Thursday.
